The hunt unfolds with almost no gunfire: old files, overheard talk, faces around a conference table. The cast is stacked: Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Hurt.

It's adapted from the novel by John le Carré, who served in British intelligence and wrote espionage as dreary bureaucracy with human casualties.
