About

Synopsis

9 Songs (2004) is a British drama directed by Michael Winterbottom that you can watch online on iFILM. Running just 67 minutes, the film was produced by Revolution Films.

Glaciologist Matt narrates from the ice fields of Antarctica, piecing together his months-long affair with Lisa — a relationship that unfolded across nine live concerts at London's Brixton Academy. Franz Ferdinand, Elbow, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Primal Scream, Super Furry Animals: the music structures the story the way chapters would in a novel. Between the shows, the two leads — Kieran O'Brien and Margo Stilley — share scenes that are sexually explicit without camera tricks or cutaways, a deliberate choice by Winterbottom that sparked debate before the film even opened.

It isn't shock for its own sake. The film treats physical intimacy and live music as two versions of the same thing: intense, shared, gone before you've fully felt it. Watch 9 Songs (2004) online on iFILM.
