Under the Silver Lake

Under the Silver Lake (2018) is an American neo-noir directed by David Robert Mitchell — watch online on iFILM. Sam is broke, drifting, and living in a Silver Lake apartment complex when he meets a beautiful woman by the pool one night. She disappears by morning with no explanation.

Andrew Garfield plays Sam as a man who turns that disappearance into an obsession. The trail pulls him through L.A.'s cults, underground parties, dead-end conspiracies and coded messages he thinks he finds in old songs and cereal boxes. Riley Keough appears as the woman who sets the whole thing in motion. Mitchell constructs the film deliberately: it is a mystery that won't resolve cleanly, about a city built on symbols nobody can fully decode.

Mitchell made It Follows (2014) before this — both films work the same nerve, where the rules of the threat are real but nobody will explain them. Under the Silver Lake premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2018 and built a cult following after a quiet theatrical run. Stream it online on iFILM.
