Synopsis

Steven (Matthew Broderick) has just split from his girlfriend and moved into a new place. The man who shows up to wire his TV is Chip, a chatty oddball with a lisp and a frightening hunger for friendship. At first it's almost fun: free channels, late-night outings, pickup basketball. But the moment Steven tries to cool things off, Chip flips into a stalker who knows far too much about his life and has no intention of backing away.
Ben Stiller directed and took a small role himself; Jack Black and Owen Wilson turn up in the margins. For Carrey this was a sharp swerve from broad comedy into something uneasy and nearly menacing.
