Synopsis
The Peripheral (2022) is the sci-fi series adapted from William Gibson's novel, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Flynn Fisher fixes gadgets in a broke Appalachian town and outplays everyone at VR on the side. When her ex-Marine brother asks her to cover a paid test of a new headset, the rig turns out to be no game at all.
The visor drops Flynn into a London seventy years ahead, long after a slow chain of disasters thinned out most of humanity. What she took for a mission was a real murder, witnessed live. Now powers in that future reach back into her present to silence her, while she learns to pilot a peripheral — an engineered body she wears in a world that isn't hers. Chloë Grace Moretz leads, with Jack Reynor and T'Nia Miller alongside.
The show comes from Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the pair behind Westworld, with Vincenzo Natali directing the pilot. It was cancelled after one season, so the ending stays open — but the dense time-paradox plotting and that bleak read on the future hold their grip. Built for fans of cold, brainy science fiction.
