Synopsis
A House of Dynamite (2025) is Kathryn Bigelow's political thriller, and you can watch online on iFILM. A single intercontinental missile is heading for the United States. Nobody knows who fired it. Roughly twenty minutes remain before impact, and in that window a handful of people have to decide the fate of the country.
Bigelow plays the crisis out close to real time, cutting between the White House bunker, a missile-defense command post and the offices of the brass. Idris Elba is the president handed an impossible choice, Rebecca Ferguson plays a Situation Room officer holding the line, and Jared Harris and Tracy Letts are generals arguing over whether to strike back at a target they can't even name. The camera stays tight on its people, and the dread comes from a ticking clock rather than explosions.
After The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, Bigelow once again dissects the mechanics of fear and command, except this time the stakes are the whole planet, not a single mission.
