Synopsis
In the Line of Fire (1993) is a taut American thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Director Wolfgang Petersen puts Clint Eastwood's veteran Secret Service agent Frank Horrigan face to face with a methodical assassin played by John Malkovich — and turns the whole film into a slow-burn psychological duel.
Horrigan was in Dallas in November 1963. He froze, and a president died. Thirty years of guilt have left him brittle but still on the job. When a caller who calls himself "Booth" starts baiting Horrigan with phone calls and taunting letters, it becomes personal fast. Booth is plotting a hit on the sitting president and wants Frank watching when it happens. Rene Russo plays fellow agent Lilly Raines, who pushes back on Horrigan's stubbornness hard enough to keep him honest.
Petersen builds the tension through conversation rather than set pieces — each call between Horrigan and Booth is a scene of its own, two intelligent men reading each other across the line. Malkovich earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Stream In the Line of Fire (1993) online on iFILM — a thriller where nerve matters more than firepower.
