About

Synopsis

Hard Boiled (辣手神探, 1992) is John Woo's landmark Hong Kong action film — watch it online on iFILM. Chow Yun-Fat plays Inspector Tequila, a cop who loses his partner in a teahouse shootout and refuses to let the gun-running ring walk free.

Tequila ends up working alongside an undercover cop named Alan, played by Tony Leung Chiu-wai, who has been embedded so deep inside the mob he barely remembers which side he's on. Anthony Wong Chau-Sang plays Johnny Wong, the crime boss at the center of the operation. The film runs 126 minutes and peaks with an extended hospital siege — the building taken over as a weapons cache — filmed by cinematographer Wong Wing-Hang in long uncut takes that thread through corridors, staircases, and burning wards in a single breath.

Released in April 1992 by Golden Princess Film Productions, Hard Boiled defined the heroic bloodshed genre and influenced a generation of filmmakers from Tarantino to Rodriguez. John Carpenter listed it among the films that reshaped his idea of action cinema. Stream Hard Boiled (1992) in full online on iFILM.
