Last Knights

Last Knights (2015) is a medieval action drama directed by Kazuaki Kiriya, available to watch online on iFILM. It is a revenge story: a band of warriors swears to avenge their executed lord and lay siege to a fortress thought impossible to breach.

Clive Owen plays Raiden, commander of the knights, sworn to Lord Bartok, played by Morgan Freeman. When Bartok refuses to bribe a corrupt imperial minister, he loses his head for it. The knights are scattered, Raiden sinks into drink, and their enemy assumes the danger is gone. Behind the drunkard's mask, though, a cold plan takes shape. A full year of preparation passes before the loyal blades return one night to cut through the walls of the empire's best-defended stronghold and settle the score.

The film loosely retells the Japanese legend of the 47 Ronin, transplanting the samurai code of loyalty into an unnamed medieval kingdom with no fixed country or era. Its international cast and grim color palette give it an unusual mood for the genre, though the payoff rests on the final siege rather than on plot twists.
