St. Vincent

St. Vincent (2014) is an American comedy-drama directed by Theodore Melfi — watch it online on iFILM. Bill Murray plays Vincent, a grumpy war veteran who spends his days at the racetrack and his nights doing nothing he should. Then a twelve-year-old boy moves in next door.

Oliver's mother, played by Melissa McCarthy, is working through a messy divorce and long hospital shifts, so the kid ends up in Vincent's reluctant care most afternoons. Jaeden Martell is quietly convincing as the boy who slowly figures out that his unlikely babysitter has a life behind the whisky and the bad attitude. Chris O'Dowd and Naomi Watts round out the cast.
