The Friend

The Friend (2025) is an American drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel and starring Naomi Watts alongside Bill Murray. Running 119 minutes, it's based on Sigrid Nunez's National Book Award-winning novel of the same name.

Writer Iris lives alone in New York until a great Dane named Apollo arrives as an unlikely inheritance from her closest friend and mentor. The dog is enormous, the apartment is not, and the eviction notices start arriving fast. What pulls the story together is something quieter: Iris and Apollo are both grieving, and neither of them knows how to do it gracefully. Ann Dowd, Carla Gugino, and Constance Wu round out the cast.
