Synopsis
Unforgiven (1992) is Clint Eastwood's western, available to watch online on iFILM. Eastwood both directed the film and took the lead role.
William Munny was once a cold-blooded gunfighter, but he gave it up, married, and settled on a failing hog farm. His wife is dead, money is short, and two children depend on him. So when a brash young man calling himself the Schofield Kid turns up with a bounty — track down the cowboys who mutilated a prostitute in the town of Big Whiskey — Munny saddles up for one last job. He brings his old partner Ned (Morgan Freeman), and the three ride into a town run by Little Bill Daggett, a brutal sheriff played by Gene Hackman.
The film pulls the noble-cowboy myth apart piece by piece. Here killing scars the shooter as much as the victim, and the tall tales of the Old West turn out to be cheap fiction sold for a drink. It won four Academy Awards, among them Best Picture and Best Director, with Hackman taking the supporting prize. Eastwood dedicated it to Sergio Leone and Don Siegel, the mentors who taught him the genre. Stream Unforgiven (1992) online on iFILM.
