Synopsis
The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005) is Bill Paxton's sports drama you can watch online on iFILM. It draws on what happened at a US Open golf championship over a century ago, when the player who had no business winning did exactly that.
Twenty-year-old Francis Ouimet grew up across the road from a country club, hauling bags for wealthy members and dreaming of the game himself. His father called it a waste, and golf's closed circles had no room for a working-class kid. Then Francis tees off against Harry Vardon, the English champion everyone wrote down as unbeatable, and trades him stroke for stroke. Shia LaBeouf plays the brash amateur, Stephen Dillane the unflappable Vardon, while ten-year-old caddie Josh Flitter steals every scene he walks into.
This was Paxton's second film as director, and he shoots the match so the tension lands even if you've never held a club. A story about a boy told to know his place who refused to. Stream The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005) online on iFILM.
