Synopsis
Old Boys (2018) is a British-Swedish comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Toby MacDonald transplants Cyrano de Bergerac into a stuffy English boarding school, casting Alex Lawther as Ambrose — socially awkward, absurdly well-read, invisible to everyone — and Jonah Hauer-King as Winchester, the school's golden boy who couldn't string together a decent sentence to save his life.
Winchester falls for Agnès (Pauline Étienne), the sharp-tongued daughter of a visiting French teacher. His plan: get Ambrose to write the letters. Ambrose's problem: he starts to fall for her himself. It is the same triangle Rostand drew in 1897, transported to rugby fields and cold dormitories, with Denis Ménochet rounding out the cast as the baffled French teacher.
