Splinter

Splinter (2008) is Toby Wilkins' creature horror you can watch online on iFILM. It's a tight, low-budget shocker about a parasite that lives under the skin.

Polly and Seth set out for a camping weekend, and it falls apart fast. On the road they are carjacked by an escaped convict, Dennis (Shea Whigham), and his girlfriend. The four end up stranded at an isolated gas station, where the real nightmare starts. Something is outside. The parasite burrows into living flesh, hijacks the body and hunts by heat. Trapped together with enemies on both sides, they have to cooperate or none of them walks out alive.

Wilkins made the film on almost no money and leaned hard on practical effects: snapping, contorting limbs, blood and splintered bone. Jill Wagner anchors the cast.
