Synopsis
Junun (2015) is a music documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and shot inside the 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort in Rajasthan, India. Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur, and the Rajasthan Express ensemble gathered there to record a cross-cultural album — blending Sufi qawwali, Israeli folk melodies, and Western rock into a single sound no one had tried before.
Anderson shoots it all as it happens: rehearsals that collapse mid-bar, rooftop conversations in three languages, Nigel Godrich mixing tracks in the heat. There is no narrator, no talking-head framing, no dramatic arc imposed on events. The music-making process is the story.
At 54 minutes it is lean and unhurried at the same time — a rare chance to sit inside a recording session that crosses continents and centuries of tradition in one room. Stream Junun (2015) online on iFILM.
