Synopsis

Beethoven (1992) is a family comedy by Brian Levant that you can watch online on iFILM. A tiny St. Bernard puppy wanders into the Newton household, and a few months later it has grown into a slobbering, hundred-pound wall of fur.

The kids name him Beethoven. They adore him, Mom comes around, but dad George — played by Charles Grodin — keeps a running tally of chewed shoes and ruined carpets. Trouble arrives in the form of Dr. Varnick, the town vet, who runs a cruel side business and needs big dogs for his experiments. Bonnie Hunt plays George's wife, with Oliver Platt, Stanley Tucci and a very young David Duchovny turning up in smaller roles.

Levant made a crowd-pleaser about a grumpy father who can't help falling for the dog. Eighty-seven minutes of chases, wrecked lawns and one frantic rescue — the kind of movie that sent a generation of kids begging their parents for a St. Bernard. Stream Beethoven (1992) online on iFILM.
