Synopsis
Dumplin' (2018) is a comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Anne Fletcher and based on Julie Murphy's novel of the same name. Willowdean "Dumplin'" Dickson, a plus-size Texas teenager, signs up for the local beauty pageant run by her own ex-beauty-queen mother (Jennifer Aniston) — not to win it, but to call out what the whole thing stands for.
Her entry sets off a small revolt. Other girls who don't fit the expected mold join the competition, and the group ends up taking lessons from local drag performers who keep the spirit of Dolly Parton alive in their town. The pageant becomes something nobody anticipated. Danielle Macdonald carries the film with an ease that makes the material feel lived-in rather than scripted.
Dolly Parton contributed original songs to the soundtrack — a detail that lands as perfectly as it sounds. The film premiered on Netflix and earned strong reviews for handling body image and self-acceptance without tipping into feel-good cliché. Watch Dumplin' (2018) online on iFILM.
