About

Synopsis

Wolf Children (おおかみこどもの雨と雪, 2012) is a Japanese animated drama from Studio Chizu — watch it online on iFILM. Director Mamoru Hosoda wrote and helmed the film himself, telling the story of Hana, a university student who falls for a man who can shift into a wolf. Aoi Miyazaki voices Hana.

When the wolf man dies suddenly, Hana is left with two small children who can be human or wolf depending on the moment — sometimes at the worst possible one. To keep their nature secret, she moves the family to a crumbling farmhouse deep in the countryside. Yuki (voiced by Haru Kuroki) is drawn toward the human world; her younger brother Ame (Yukito Nishii) drifts further into the forest with every passing season. One mother. Two very different children.

Released in Japan in July 2012 and distributed by TOHO, the film earned over 55 million dollars worldwide. Studio Chizu was Hosoda's own independent studio, launched specifically to make this kind of personal, author-driven animation. Stream Wolf Children (2012) in good quality on iFILM.
