Synopsis
Quest for Fire (La Guerre du feu, 1981) is an adventure drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. Set roughly eighty thousand years ago, it follows a tribe that knows how to keep fire alive but not how to make it. When the last embers die after a raid, three warriors are sent across the wild to find more.
Their road runs through a landscape of saber-toothed cats, mammoths and cannibal clans. Along the way they meet Ika, a woman from a more advanced people who holds the secret they lack: how to spark a flame from nothing. A young Ron Perlman appears among the warriors in one of his earliest roles, alongside Everett McGill and Rae Dawn Chong.
There is almost no spoken dialogue here. The characters communicate in an invented primal language devised by author Anthony Burgess, with gestures and body language choreographed by zoologist Desmond Morris.
