The Killer

The Killer (1989) is John Woo's Hong Kong action classic you can watch online on iFILM. Chow Yun-fat plays Jeffrey, a contract killer so precise he treats the work as a code rather than a paycheck — until one job goes wrong.

A nightclub shootout leaves the singer Jennie blind, caught in Jeffrey's crossfire. He can't shake the guilt. To pay for the surgery that could restore her sight, he agrees to one final hit, unaware that a stubborn cop is closing in on him. The strange thing is what the two men start to see in each other: the same sense of honor, split across the law. Then Jeffrey's own employers betray him, and hunter and hunted end up firing side by side.

This is the film that rebuilt the action genre and put Woo on the world map — slow-motion gunfights, white doves, a candlelit church, a pistol in each hand.
