About

Synopsis

Bullitt (1968) is the cult crime thriller by Peter Yates you can watch online on iFILM. Steve McQueen stars as a San Francisco police lieutenant who plays by his own code and trusts almost no one.

Senator Chalmers wants to build his name on a high-profile case against the mob. His ace is Johnny Ross, a witness ready to give up the syndicate's bosses. Guarding him falls to Frank Bullitt. On the very first night, hired killers break through to the witness, and a routine assignment turns into a bloody hunt. Bullitt works the trail alone, doubting the politicians and his own brass alike. Robert Vaughn plays the slippery senator, Jacqueline Bisset is the woman tired of the violence around her, and a young Robert Duvall turns up as a cab driver.

The reason for the legend is the chase across San Francisco's steep streets. A green Ford Mustang roars, launches off the hills and tears through everything in its path; the sequence is still studied as the gold standard of car action. McQueen did much of his own driving.
