Spooks (Seasons 1–10)
It's a fine line between safety and terror. Meet the rulers.
Synopsis
Spooks (2002) is a BBC One espionage thriller you can watch online on iFILM, running for ten seasons through 2011. Matthew Macfadyen, Keeley Hawes, Peter Firth, Richard Armitage, and David Oyelowo all rotate through the central team — each departure from the show is as abrupt as the job itself demands.
The series follows a covert unit inside MI5, working out of a secure floor called The Grid. These are not superhero operatives — they are civil servants with clearance, making calls that can't be walked back, under pressure from politicians, foreign services, and threats from within. Terrorism plots, sleeper agents, interagency cover-ups. The show established early that any character can be written out without warning, which keeps every episode genuinely tense.
Produced in the aftermath of the 2001 attacks, Spooks became a benchmark for British intelligence drama: procedural and unglamorous, with a moral weight that rarely resolves cleanly. If you want spy fiction that treats the work as a burden rather than a thrill, this is it. Stream all seasons of Spooks online on iFILM.
