Synopsis
Fat Girl (À ma sœur!, 2001) is a French drama directed by Catherine Breillat, available to watch online on iFILM. Two sisters — twelve-year-old Anaïs (Anaïs Reboux) and fifteen-year-old Elena (Roxane Mesquida) — are spending the summer at the seaside with their family. They look nothing alike, and that contrast is the film's engine.
Elena falls for Fernando (Libero De Rienzo), an Italian student who knows exactly how to push the conversation forward. Anaïs watches, listens, and understands more than anyone gives her credit for. Breillat strips away every romantic illusion from the premise: this is a film about desire as something that happens to girls, not with them — and the final act makes the point in terms that leave no room for comfort.
