Synopsis

Labor Day (2013) is a drama directed by Jason Reitman — watch online on iFILM. Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin lead this adaptation of Joyce Maynard's novel, a quiet film about trust and the unexpected.

Adele Wheeler barely leaves the house anymore. Years of depression since the divorce. On the last Saturday of August she takes her son Henry to the grocery store and a wounded stranger asks them for a ride. Frank is an escaped convict, but the man who shows up at their door is patient, careful, and oddly kind — he fixes the rotting porch step, teaches Henry to throw a ball, bakes a peach pie. The police are combing the neighbourhood. Inside, something is shifting. The story unfolds across a single long weekend, narrated years later by Henry, played by Gattlin Griffith.

Reitman keeps the film still and close, with no easy redemption and no cheap tension. Stream Labor Day (2013) online on iFILM.
