Synopsis
Race with the Devil (1975) is an American action-horror thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Director Jack Starrett put Peter Fonda and Warren Oates in a motor home, pointed them at open Texas highway and then made sure neither the road nor the rearview mirror offered any comfort. Loretta Swit and Lara Parker play their wives — the two who figure out the situation is unsalvageable before the men do.
The four are on a vacation road trip when they stumble onto a ritual in a clearing after dark. What they see makes them witnesses. Being a witness, they quickly learn, is not survivable. From that point the film is a chase without pause: every stop for gas or directions brings the cult closer, and the further they drive the more obvious it becomes that the net is tightening rather than loosening.
Starrett never explains the cult's reach or its membership — which is the smartest choice the film makes. The threat feels infinite because it stays invisible.
