Synopsis
The Mummy (1959) is a British horror classic from Hammer Film Productions — watch it online on iFILM. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee anchor a story of desecrated tombs, ancient curses, and a creature that spent four thousand years waiting for the archaeologists to come.
In 1895, the Banning family expedition unseals the tomb of Egyptian princess Ananka despite explicit warnings from a local guardian of the site. Three years later, back in England, expedition members begin dying. Kharis — the high priest entombed alongside Ananka — has been reanimated and dispatched by a devoted servant of the old gods to destroy everyone who violated the burial. Lee plays Kharis without a single line of dialogue. All menace, all physicality. Cushing's measured, rational Englishman makes for an exact counterpoint.
Director Terence Fisher gave Hammer's signature treatment: vivid color, operatic dread, and a confrontation between imperial confidence and something much older than empire. Stream The Mummy (1959) online on iFILM.
