The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (時をかける少女, 2006) is a Japanese animated film from Madhouse studio — watch it online on iFILM. Director Mamoru Hosoda adapted Yasutaro Komatsu's 1967 novel into a 98-minute blend of sci-fi and coming-of-age drama that became his first major solo feature.

Seventeen-year-old Makoto Konno, voiced by Riisa Naka, rides her bike to school, plays afternoon baseball with friends Chiaki and Kousuke, and generally muddles through. Then a strange encounter in her aunt's laboratory hands her the ability to physically jump back through time. She uses it for small fixes — a better test score, a clumsy moment undone. But every leap reshapes something for the people around her, and the leaps are running out faster than she realizes.

Released in July 2006, the film swept Japan's major animation awards, including the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year, and launched Hosoda's reputation as one of anime's defining voices — years before Summer Wars or Wolf Children.
