Synopsis

Husbands and Wives (1992) — watch online Woody Allen's tragicomedy about what happens to a marriage when the couple next to you suddenly falls apart. Written and directed by Allen, starring Allen, Mia Farrow, Judy Davis, and Sydney Pollack.

Gabe and Judy are having dinner with their best friends Jack and Sally when the announcement comes: Jack and Sally are separating. The evening goes sideways from there. Gabe, a novelist and professor, starts spending too much time with a sharp-minded young student. Judy finds herself drawn to a stranger. Jack tries to reinvent himself with an aerobics instructor. And Sally realizes the separation wasn't exactly what she had in mind. Allen shot the whole film handheld, in a loose mock-documentary style — jumpy, intimate, and deliberately uncomfortable.

Released in 1992 during one of the most turbulent periods of Allen's personal life, the film stands as one of his most raw and searching works on desire and self-deception. Cinematography by Carlo Di Palma, edited by Susan E. Morse. Stream Husbands and Wives on iFILM.
