Synopsis

Everyone Says I Love You (1996) is Woody Allen's musical comedy, and you can watch online on iFILM. A sprawling New York family breaks into song on sidewalks, in mansions, even inside Tiffany's.

The narrator's daughter tries to set her father, played by Allen himself, up with a glamorous woman whose marriage is wobbling, while her half-sister gets engaged. Love affairs flare and fade from Manhattan to Venice to Paris. The cast is almost absurdly deep: Goldie Hawn, Julia Roberts, Edward Norton, Drew Barrymore, Natalie Portman, Tim Roth, Alan Alda. Most of them sing in their own untrained voices, and that wobble is the whole charm.

Allen pulled old jazz standards like "I'm Through with Love" straight into ordinary family chatter, so people start singing as if nobody would notice. Hawn's closing dance along the Seine, where she seems to lift off the ground, is the kind of trick that sticks with you. Stream Everyone Says I Love You (1996) online on iFILM.
