Synopsis

Frank Hamer (Kevin Costner) has long since retired to his ranch. Then a string of bank robberies and dead lawmen pushes the governor to call him in. With his old partner Maney Gault (Woody Harrelson) riding shotgun, Hamer drives state to state on the trail of a couple half the country treats like folk heroes. The story refuses to glamorize the killers; it watches the chase through the eyes of the men sent to end it.
What you get is the flip side of the legend: while newspapers turn murderers into celebrities, the pursuit drags on for months and burns real lives. John Carroll Lynch and Kathy Bates fill out the cast, but the film lives on the worn-in chemistry between Costner and Harrelson. Built from everything the romantic Bonnie and Clyde myth left out.
