Patricia Dombrowski goes by Killa P, then Patti Cake$. She's big, loud and dead serious about making it in hip-hop, even though everything around her says otherwise: a mother who traded singing for drinking, a grandmother barely on her feet, and a neighbourhood of strip malls that isn't rooting for anyone. She finds an unlikely collaborator in a tattooed recluse who calls himself Basterd — the first person to actually listen to her tracks.
