Synopsis

Welcome to the Dollhouse (1996) — watch online Todd Solondz's Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner on iFILM. This American indie drama runs 88 minutes and remains one of the most unflinching portraits of middle-school life ever put on screen.

Dawn Wiener is twelve, wears thick glasses, and occupies the exact middle of her family — ignored by parents who dote on her little sister, overlooked by her older brother. Heather Matarazzo plays her without a single soft note: stubborn, graceless, buzzing with suppressed feeling. Teachers don't notice. Classmates do, and they make every day count. A crush on the band's older singer (Eric Mabius) goes exactly as badly as you'd expect. The only person who actually registers Dawn is Brandon (Brendan Sexton III), a bully whose threats gradually shift into something closer to recognition.

Solondz wrote no lesson into the story and offered no rescue. The comedy arrives in places where another film would play it straight, and the sadness lands where you least expect it. Stream Welcome to the Dollhouse (1996) full movie online on iFILM.
