Synopsis

The summer of 1973. Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) sits at the top of the women's game, yet the prize money for women is a fraction of what the men collect — and she has had enough. Enter Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell), a retired champ, motormouth and compulsive gambler who dares any top woman to face him on court, live on television. The film runs two stories side by side. One is the carnival of bets, hustles and TV cameras. The other is quieter: Billie Jean falling for a woman for the first time while hiding it from the press and her husband.
