Synopsis
Everything Sucks! (2018) — watch online on iFILM — is a Netflix coming-of-age comedy-drama set in 1996 in the real Oregon town of Boring. Freshman AV club member Luke, played by Jahahi Di'Allo Winston, develops a crush on Kate, the principal's daughter, played by Peyton Kennedy. Kate is figuring out something about herself she isn't ready to say out loud, and the show handles that with more patience than most.
The AV club and the drama club are forced to collaborate on a school film. It goes poorly. Sydney Sweeney appears as one of the drama kids. The show's texture is very specific: Discmans, VHS tapes, Alanis Morissette on the radio, a school hallway where everyone is performing some version of who they think they're supposed to be. Ten episodes, and it earns most of them.
