The Dropout (Season 1)

The Dropout (2022) is an American limited series you can watch online on iFILM. Amanda Seyfried stars as Elizabeth Holmes — the Stanford dropout who built Theranos into a multi-billion-dollar company on a promise that a single drop of blood could run hundreds of diagnostic tests. Seyfried won the Emmy for the role.

The machine didn't work. Holmes and her board of directors — which included former secretaries of state and retired military generals — kept that secret for years while real patients received inaccurate results and made medical decisions based on data the company knew was fabricated. The series traces how Holmes constructed her persona: the Steve Jobs wardrobe, the artificially lowered voice, the investor presentations that raised hundreds of millions of dollars.
