The Secret of Crickley Hall (Season 1)

The Secret of Crickley Hall (2012) is a BBC three-part drama you can watch online on iFILM, adapted from James Herbert's novel. A year after their young son Cam vanishes without a trace, Gabe and Eve Caleigh — played by Tom Ellis and Suranne Jones — move their two daughters to a large countryside house, hoping distance will do what time hasn't.

It doesn't. The cellar door swings open on its own. Children's cries drift through the night from rooms that are empty. A figure carrying a cane stalks the grounds. Then Eve hears Cam's voice. The house holds a second story: in 1943, evacuee children were kept here, and what happened to them is still unresolved. Olivia Cooke and Maisie Williams appear in supporting roles; David Warner is quietly menacing as a presence from the past.
