Synopsis
The Romanoffs (2018) is an Amazon Prime Video anthology drama you can watch online on iFILM. Matthew Weiner — creator of Mad Men — wrote and directed all eight episodes, each a standalone story about present-day people who believe they carry the blood of Russia's last imperial family.
The episodes range across Paris, New York, Montana, Argentina and beyond, with no shared characters between them. The series moves at the deliberate pace Weiner prefers — no thriller hooks, no plot machinery — just character under pressure, examined at length. For viewers who liked the literary slowness of Mad Men, this is Weiner in a similar register, freed from a continuous arc.
