Synopsis
Halt and Catch Fire (2014–2017) is an AMC drama you can watch online on iFILM. Set in the Texas "Silicon Prairie" of the early 1980s, it follows the personal-computer boom through four people chasing the same impossible dream. Smooth-talking salesman Joe MacMillan strong-arms a mid-tier firm into reverse-engineering the IBM PC.
Joe (Lee Pace) can sell anything, yet he can't write a line of code. Engineer Gordon Clark wants to build a machine that changes the world, and his wife Donna is every bit his equal. Punk programmer Cameron Howe (Mackenzie Davis) writes code the way other people breathe. The four of them build companies and blow them up again, and across four seasons the story moves from cloning hardware to early online communities and the dawn of the internet. The tech keeps reinventing itself; the people stay stuck on their own ambition, grudges and loyalties.
Created by Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers, the show started as a story about hardware and grew into one of TV's sharpest dramas about friendship and work obsession. Ratings stayed small, but critics turned it into a cult favorite by the finale. Four seasons, forty episodes. Stream every season of Halt and Catch Fire online on iFILM.
