Synopsis

In the Mouth of Madness (1995) is John Carpenter's reality-bending horror film, free to watch online on iFILM. Insurance investigator John Trent takes what looks like a routine job: track down Sutter Cane, a wildly popular horror novelist who has vanished. The catch is that Cane's latest book seems to drive its readers insane.

The trail leads Trent to Hobb's End, a town that exists in Cane's fiction but not on any map. The closer he gets, the more the rules of the world stop applying. Sam Neill plays a hard-nosed skeptic who explains everything away with logic, then watches that logic fall apart around him. Julie Carmen co-stars as Cane's editor, with Jurgen Prochnow, David Warner and a sharp cameo from Charlton Heston as the publisher.

This is the closing chapter of Carpenter's loose Apocalypse Trilogy, after The Thing and Prince of Darkness, and an open love letter to H.P. Lovecraft. The tagline says it all: "Lived any good books lately?" Stream In the Mouth of Madness (1995) online on iFILM.
