Stranger in Our House

Stranger in Our House (1979) is a made-for-TV horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Wes Craven shot it for ABC just a year after The Hills Have Eyes, with Linda Blair — then still best known as the girl from The Exorcist — playing Rachel, a teenager whose family takes in a charming orphaned cousin named Julia after her parents die in a crash.

Julia is almost too charming. Rachel's horse breaks its leg at a competition. Her boyfriend drifts away. Small misfortunes pile up with suspicious precision. Craven works inside a tight TV budget and still builds genuine dread out of domestic routine — the same trick he'd sharpen on A Nightmare on Elm Street five years later.
