Synopsis
The Hills Have Eyes (1977) is Wes Craven's cult horror, and you can watch it online on iFILM. The Carter family takes a shortcut on the way to California and ends up stranded in a desert that is anything but empty.
Their trailer dies on a closed military test range, miles from any road, surrounded by rock and heat. Or so it looks. Out in the hills lives another clan — feral people raised beyond every rule of civilization, used to hunting whatever wanders into their range. When the sun drops, they come down. To survive the night, the ordinary suburban family has to find out whether it can turn just as savage.
Craven shot the film on a shoestring, drawing loosely on the legend of Scottish cannibal Sawney Bean, and turned the open desert into a stage for something primal. Michael Berryman's gaunt face as Pluto became the movie's calling card, and the picture launched a whole strain of backcountry horror before earning a remake three decades later.
