About

Synopsis

Being Julia (2004) is a British-Canadian drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by István Szabó and anchored by Annette Bening's award-winning turn as Julia Lambert. London, 1938. Julia is the most celebrated actress in the city — and the most restless.

Her marriage to smooth impresario Michael Gosselyn (Jeremy Irons) functions more like a business arrangement than a romance. When a charming young American fan named Tom Fennel catches her attention, Julia lets herself fall. The fling restores her spark — until Tom starts positioning a rival actress for the spotlight. He has underestimated his leading lady. Julia has spent a lifetime controlling audiences; redirecting a plot is nothing.

Bening took home a Golden Globe for this role, and the performance earns it: Julia isn't simply vain, she's a woman so fully at home in performance that she no longer knows where the character ends. The film is adapted from W. Somerset Maugham's 1937 novel. Watch Being Julia (2004) online on iFILM.
