Three high-school friends are chasing the same thing from completely different angles. Rick talks his way into any situation. David eats his way through the school day. Gary just wants Karen to notice him — which she does, eventually, but not the way he hoped. What sets this 1982 comedy apart from its era is the ending. It doesn't wrap up clean, and that stings in a way most films of the genre never bother to attempt.
