Synopsis

Limbo (1999) is a drama-thriller from writer-director John Sayles that you can watch online on iFILM — set against the wild Alaskan coast and built around the kind of quiet character work that makes the danger hit harder when it arrives. David Strathairn plays Joe Gastineau, a fisherman hollowed out by an accident years back, getting through the days on odd jobs and low expectations.

Then a nomadic club singer named Donna, played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, walks into the town. Her teenage daughter comes with her. Joe gets closer than he planned, and a coastal boat trip turns into something none of them prepared for — stranded, isolated, and hunted.

Sayles takes his time with the setup, and the payoff is deliberately unresolved. The ending divides audiences sharply: some find it infuriating, others can't shake it. That kind of reaction is hard to manufacture, which tells you the film is doing something real. Stream Limbo (1999) online on iFILM.
