Synopsis

Buried (2010) is Rodrigo Cortés's thriller starring Ryan Reynolds, and you can watch it online on iFILM. The entire film unfolds inside a wooden coffin buried somewhere in the Iraqi desert.

Paul Conroy is an American truck driver on contract in Iraq. After an ambush on his convoy he wakes in total darkness, bound, under several feet of earth. All he has is a lighter, a phone with a fading battery, and maybe ninety minutes of air. From the box he calls everyone who might dig him out — his wife, rescue lines, a recruiting office, and the kidnappers demanding a ransom. Every call either inches him closer to the surface or burns through time and oxygen.

Cortés shot the picture on a single set, never once leaving the coffin, and keeps the camera locked on Reynolds for all 95 minutes. The screenplay by Chris Sparling earned an Edgar Award nomination. The frame pushes in tight, then drops away into black, until the cramped space feels real. Stream Buried (2010) online on iFILM.
