Synopsis
Scrat: Spaced Out (2016) — watch online on iFILM — is a 15-minute animated short from Blue Sky Studios, directed by Mike Thurmeier as a companion piece to Ice Age: Collision Course.
Scrat's latest attempt to bury his acorn goes badly wrong when he stumbles onto an alien spacecraft frozen in the ice, accidentally powers it up, and rockets into orbit. The solar system takes the hit — planets nudged off course, asteroids redirected, general chaos. Then the Scratazons show up: an alien species with the exact same weakness for acorns, and they want his back. The voice cast includes Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Jennifer Lopez, Simon Pegg, and Adam Devine, with astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson appearing as himself.
At a quarter-hour, the short wastes no time — it's pure slapstick physics at the scale of the galaxy, which is exactly the kind of joke only an Ice Age short can pull off. Stream Scrat: Spaced Out online on iFILM.
