She Hate Me

She Hate Me (2004) is a sharp-edged comedy-drama by Spike Lee — watch it online on iFILM. Anthony Mackie plays John "Jack" Armstrong, a high-flying biotech executive who blows the whistle on his company's fraud and gets fired for it. Broke and blacklisted, Jack stumbles into an unlikely business: his ex-girlfriend Fatima and her partner pay him ten thousand dollars to father their child. Word spreads. Eighteen women later, Jack is running what amounts to an underground fertility service while his former colleagues are busy framing him for the corporate scandal he tried to stop. The film runs 138 minutes, and Lee takes his time threading the comedy through the outrage.
