Crooklyn

Crooklyn (1994) is a semi-autobiographical drama-comedy from Spike Lee that you can watch online on iFILM. The film is set in 1970s Brooklyn: a schoolteacher mother, a jazz-musician father chasing gigs over bills, five kids and a block that never really quiets down.

Ten-year-old Troy is the only girl in the household and the sharpest observer in the room. Alfre Woodard and Delroy Lindo play the parents holding a fraying marriage together; Zelda Harris plays Troy with a watchful energy that carries the whole film. Lee co-wrote the screenplay with his siblings Joie and Cinqué Lee, drawing on memories of their own Bed-Stuy childhood.
