About

Synopsis

Night Shift (1982) is an American comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Ron Howard made it before Splash and Apollo 13, with a script by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel — and it marks Michael Keaton's breakout role on screen.

Chuck Lumley fled a Wall Street career for the quietest job imaginable: the overnight shift at the New York City morgue. Henry Winkler plays him as a man allergic to conflict of any kind. His new partner Bill is the opposite — a nonstop idea machine who records every thought on a pocket cassette recorder and discards nothing. When their neighbor Belinda, played by Shelley Long, loses her pimp, Bill's latest scheme takes shape: why not fill that vacancy, using the morgue after hours?

Ganz and Mandel's screenplay keeps the absurdity grounded in two very different personalities bouncing off each other. Stream Night Shift (1982) online on iFILM.
